Luna Spade(stage name) performs illusions using a wide variety of props and has made impressive strides as a card technician.
We looked at multiple types of props for their mood board and cards were the top choice to represent their brand. Colour and typeface only needed to meet one criteria: mystical.
While brainstorming, the idea of a logo within a card was exciting for Luna, so I created a few combinations for different typography. Once the final one was picked, a few more tweaks were needed for the moon on the corner, sizes and rotations. The final logo design is to be used for vertical material such as business cards and a horizontal version was created for their email signature and the logo in the navigation menu of their website.
Lastly, we needed one more variation to be used as the hero image on their website. To be able to get a realistic illustration, I asked Luna to hold three cards in their hand and measured the angle and corners overlap.
After using AI and consulting with real people, Luna's quote was finalized and "engraved" in their website
Up to date, Luna Spade has performed for multiple times for remote audiences of 10+ people as well as several street magic performances. Street magic is a perfect way to continue improving well known illusions as well as testing out new ones and can be done anywhere and anytime; a booked show, however, requires planning and customization considering the following:
The first step was to create a list of all illusions that Luna has mastered; then we had to categorize them based on live or remote audience eligibility. Additionally, we scored each of the illusions based on how impressive they are as this is key to ensure that the audience is engaged, allows for some playfulness and creates the momentum for the mind blowing illusions.
On a per show basis, and depending on the time available, we then identify the tricks available to the audience category and start developing a story so each illusion is connected to the next; the show is then rehearsed and timed to continue evolving the story until its ready for the final performance. On the final rehearsal date, technology is tested to ensure that the audience in a remote show can observe Luna performing as well as a close up of her hands.
As Luna's repertoire increases and mastery of illusions is achieved, so will the requirements to continue wowing the audiences!
